A.K.A. Custom Illustrations for the Rebels Who Don’t Give a F*ck
Where do I even start with this one? Carris came to me with a brand that was already pretty damn cool but needed some serious visual muscle to match her “I’m the blunt friend who will always give it to you straight” energy. And let me tell you, this woman doesn’t sugarcoat ANYTHING.
Carris has been slinging that camera for 8 years, serving up “raw, unapologetic moments and stories for really cool people.” Her brand tagline? “For the rebels, the lovers, the fuckin’ legends, and all things badass.” I mean, COME ON. This woman gets it.
Carris isn’t just another photographer trying to be edgy. This is a woman who was inspired by her late grandpa, who collects vintage cameras, and who genuinely believes in capturing memories “until our very last days.” The name “Til Death” isn’t just shock value, it’s deeply meaningful, inspired by wedding vows, nostalgia, and yes, her rebellious nature.
Carris loved her brand name and approach, but her visuals were falling flat. She had some skeleton graphics that were leaning too Halloween-ish, and honestly, the whole thing just wasn’t screaming “WELCOME TO THE FREAK SHOW” the way she wanted it to.
Her dream? To attract everyone. Not just the generic Midwest clients she’d been getting, but ALL the beautiful, diverse, badass humans who deserve to see themselves represented. She wanted more skin colors, more body shapes, more same-sex love stories. She wanted her brand to be the safe space where being YOU is cool as hell.
The Vision: 80s Garage Band Meets Playboy Magazine
When Carris described her dream aesthetic, I literally got goosebumps. “Grungy 80s-90s vintage rockstar having band practice in their garage or basement, but a little more feminine.” We’re talking Playboy magazines, red lipstick with smeared lipstick stains, cheetah print, old cassette tapes, records, pool tables, hanging dice from vintage car mirrors, old phones, vintage cameras, and cherries.
She wanted something that felt vintage and edgy as possible, but also very much ALIVE despite the “Til Death” name.
We ditched the Halloween vibes but kept the rebellious spirit. The illustrations we created captured that perfect balance of nostalgic and badass, feminine and grungy, meaningful and wild. Think less “skeleton in a coffin” and more “vintage rockstar with a story to tell.”
Now when potential clients land on her page, they don’t just see another photographer. They see someone who values reminiscing, who sees beauty in all things nostalgic, and who’s ready to help them create memories that’ll last until their very last days.
Most importantly, the illustrations feel authentically HER. They’re bold without being obnoxious, edgy without being try-hard, and meaningful without being cheesy. Just like the woman behind the camera.
