Sometimes the most rewarding projects are the ones that span years of growth. When I first worked with Vaughan Photo and Film back in 2023, Sarah had just transitioned from solo photographer to a husband-wife duo with Chase, combining their passion for both photography and videography. Fast forward to 2024, and they were ready for their brand to mature alongside their business.
During our initial kickoff call in 2023, Sarah’s vision was clear: create something that felt magical and book-inspired (think Harry Potter vibes) while serving couples who wanted their wedding day to be about joy, not performance. Based between Cleveland and Columbus, they specialized in serving outdoorsy couples who preferred candid moments over 27-page shot lists, with a growing focus on adventurous elopements.
The original brand embraced whimsical elements, moons, stars, and their signature griffin logo, all tied together with darker, greeny tones rather than traditional wedding industry pastels. Their approach was refreshingly authentic: “Go really hard on making the day about us, not traditions.”
The Evolution of Vaughan Photo and Film:
When Sarah returned for a website refresh, the core of who they are remained the same, but their market position had shifted, and they had some kickass branding from North of Copper to go with it.. They were attracting higher-end clients and needed their brand to reflect the luxury experience they now provided, while maintaining the magical, book-inspired aesthetic that made them uniquely them.
What makes this project particularly interesting is how it reflects the natural evolution of a creative business. The duo’s move toward higher-end elopements and luxury weddings required a brand that could compete in that space while staying true to their authentic, no-pressure approach to wedding documentation.
The refreshed Vaughan Photo & Film brand successfully bridges whimsical and luxury, proving that growing up doesn’t mean losing your magic.
